The Boat House is a beautiful period family home in a city with a strong naval and seafaring history. Light, spacious and relaxing, it’s the kind of place you can really picture yourself kicking back, being yourself and forgetting your worries as you enjoy being by the sea.
As soon as you enter the property, you’ll get a real sense that here’s a family home that’s been cherished by owners who are now letting guests from all over the world experience its delights.
Highlights include the large living room that benefits from a big bay window that bathes the space in light. There’s a homely feel in here, thanks to a combination of comfy sofas, an armchair, a rug on the floor, paintings on the walls and books on the shelves. Why not flake out on the sofa after a long day’s exploring or working and take your pick from the cable channels available on the flatscreen TV next to the fireplace?
The lounge leads through to a separate dining room that features a table that comfortably seats four, ideal for a sit down meal for everyone or board games in the evening. There’s a work desk in here too, offering a quiet place to retreat and open up the laptop if/when there’s work to be done.
The kitchen is modern with all you need to cook for yourselves. And there’s a separate utility room, handy if you’re staying long-term and need to wash your clothes (it sure beats lugging a bag to the launderette).
Upstairs, the two double bedrooms and one single offer everyone a comfy space to sleep and store their stuff. And there’s a modern bathroom featuring a bath and shower, plus a paved outside area at the rear of the property.
The house is all yours for the duration of your stay. Only the loft space is out of bounds. The property is accessed via a small step from street level which leads into the front garden and up a short path to the front door. An internal staircase leads to the upper level of the house. There is free parking outside.
INTERACTION WITH GUESTS
Your hosts’ key aim is to ensure all guests have a memorable stay in The Boat House. So expect a warm Devon welcome, and all the help and advice you need with settling in and finding your way around the area. This property is hosted by LouiseLewis Holidays.
The Boat House is in the Milehouse area of Plymouth, a pleasant 1930s suburb with its own shops and pubs, that are all just a short distance from the city centre.
If you like your history, you’ll probably be fascinated to know that the area is famous for formerly being the site of the large family home of Robert Falcon Scott, the explorer who led the ill-fated British expedition to the South Pole.
We can pretty much guarantee warmer weather than Scott experienced whatever time of year you stay in The Boat House. It’s close to Plymouth’s huge Central Park, which is home to the Plymouth Life Centre, one of the largest sporting venues in England, providing locals and tourists with a wide range of sports and activities. For football fans, Home Park is nearby, where the recently promoted Plymouth Argyle football club play their home games.
The Boat House is just a 5 minute drive from Plymouth town centre, and with free parking outside, using your car to get here and around and about is a great option. But being so close to everything, having a car isn’t essential, as you can walk or cycle to places or catch a bus. Plymouth train and coach stations are also nearby.
No smoking anywhere in the house or its outside spaces, please.
Pets are allowed to stay in the house as long as they are kept downstairs, a small extra fee will occur.
No loud noise, especially between 10PM and 7AM. The Boat House is located in a quiet residential area.
No events are to be held in the house, especially hen or stag parties. Thank you.
